The Pursell Family Band began 15 years ago with our 4-year old and 7-year old playing cardboard boxes with sticks. As these fiddlers grew, they found they enjoyed bluegrass music much more than classical Suzuki. The next oldest decided she wanted to play mandolin, the next the banjo, and the youngest the mandolin as well. Mom and Dad didn't want to be left out and joined them with bass and guitar. Before we knew what was happening, we were a family band. We love playing bluegrass and old gospel tunes together whether in our living room or in front of a crowd at the park.
